Welcome to our newest episode of The Spin, where I’m joined by Oakland-born and soon-to-be NYC-based rapper kJADE. kJADE released her sophomore effort, On Everything I Love, in February as a follow-up to her debut, The Sound That Trees Make. Although she veers in a more electronic and laid-back direction on her second record, her voice and her sound still carry the same poignancy, and she joined us today to discuss five records, ranging from the gospel and R&B of her childhood to the hip-hop that inspires her today.
